Bath time changes as your newborn grows into a baby that’s able to sit up. He or she may be starting to outgrow the baby tub. Make sure bath time is fun and safe!

  • Set your water heater to 120°F: You’ll prevent burns, even if baby accidentally turns the hot water faucet. Test bath water the same way you test the temperature of a bottle of milk. The water should feel cold or hot to your wrist.
  • Put down a rubber mat on the bottom of the tub to avoid slipping.
  • Fill the tub only a few inches deep.
  • Use a soft washcloth and a mild soap.
  • Keep a hand on your baby as much as possible and never leave baby alone, even for a minute.
  • Move all electric items, like hair dryers, away from the tub.
  • Empty all water from a bathtub immediately after use.

Keep your eyes on your baby anytime he or she is in water!
