Babies can be bathed 2-3 times a week as long as you clean the face, neck, hands and diaper area daily. When you are bathing your baby:

  • Never take your eyes off your baby
  • Never take your hand off your baby

Make sure you have everything you need before you start – towel, washcloth, baby soap, baby shampoo, waterproof baby toys, diaper, change of clothes. If you need to walk away for any reason, take the baby with you.

If you have more than one baby, wash them one at a time. Put the other baby (or babies) in a baby seat nearby so that you can reach them when needed. Have a baby seat ready for the baby you are bathing.

  • Use 2 to 4 inches of lukewarm water.
  • Bathtubs are very slippery. Make sure you have a rubber mat; use a baby tub if you can.
  • Don’t use bubble baths; they could irritate the baby.
  • Keep electrical appliances, like hair dryers, away from the tub.
